Union County Water is currently working to upgrade any traditional meters that still exist in our service area with new smart meters that use advanced metering infrastructure, or AMI. This upgrade will improve the efficiency of our meter reading process and will improve service delivery to all customers served by Union County Water. Customers will not be charged for the new meter.

Our current meter replacement schedule will be updated continuously on this page. The section below shows where our contractor is currently working. Please click the plus signs to open and close each section to view specific neighborhoods or street sections within each municipality, noting that some neighborhoods or street sections are listed within multiple municipalities.

Did You Know?
Most Union County Water customers already have smart meters. In recent years, Union County Water has shifted from the use of traditional meters to the use of smart meters for new construction and meter replacements for our existing customers. .

What to Expect

Customers may see our contractors working at their meter box, typically located near the street edge, for approximately half an hour. During this time, water service will be interrupted for about 10 minutes. Our contractor will test the new meter by running about 10 gallons of water from an exterior hose or faucet. The contractor will leave a doorhanger at the customer’s front door when the work is complete.

Contractors will carry proper identification and will have successfully completed a comprehensive background check; contractor vehicles will also be clearly marked as doing business for Union County Water.

How to Stay Informed

This webpage will be updated throughout the course of the project to show where our contractor’s crews are currently working and where they will go next. We will also install yard signs in neighborhoods prior to beginning work; our crews will remove yard signs when work in a specific area is complete.

We will attempt to contact customers before work begins in their area by email. To ensure we have your current email address on file, Contact Customer Care.
