Union County Water practices water conservation year-round, regardless of drought status.

Regardless of our Current Stage of Water Restrictions, customers are always required to limit the use of water for irrigation purposes. Depending on the severity of drought status, customers are limited to no more than three days of spray irrigation system use each week, with fewer days allowed during a declared water shortage. Exceptions to this policy are allowed only through a temporary variance to the County’s restrictions on water use.

To receive a variance, customers must demonstrate a legitimate reason why they need to irrigate more frequently than allowed. The variance application below is accepted only when County is in Stage 0, Stage 1, or Stage 2 of water shortage. To view the current stage of water shortage, visit our Current Stage of Water Restrictions page.

To apply for a variance to the County’s water usage restrictions, please complete the form below. A staff member will review your submitted form and follow up with you. Please note that an irrigation variance cannot exceed 45 days. To learn more, review the county ordinance.
