Home MenuRestore Service After Disconnection
Paying your monthly bill on time is one way you can help our publicly owned utility keep costs low and operate in a fiscally responsible way. It costs us time and money to recover the losses of unpaid services rendered to our customers. For that reason, we have policies and fees in place to help encourage all customers to make payments on time and to recover our costs associated with unpaid bills.
After two consecutive months of lack of payment - and if we have not heard from you - please be advised that your water service will be disconnected. In addition, a delinquency fee of $140 and a late fee of $10 or 5% of the total bill (whichever is greater) will be added to the outstanding balance on your account. Tampering with the meter, locking device, or tag will result in one or more tampering charges added to your bill.
How to Restore Service After Disconnection
To restore water service, the entire balance - including all fees and penalties - must be paid in full.
Payments can be made using any of our accepted payment methods; however, paying online or by phone (704-292-2537, our 24/7 automated service) are the most expedient options for this purpose.
After the full balance on the account has been paid, your account will be dispatched for reconnection.
If payment is received by 4 p.m., service will be reconnected the same business day. If payment is received after 4 p.m., service will be restored on the next business day.
Facing a Financial Hardship?
If you are facing a financial hardship, please contact Customer Care before your service is shut off for lack of payment. A customer care representative will review your account and discuss options with you.
For customers who have good payment history, we will attempt to work with you to set up a payment arrangement in order to avoid disconnecting your service.
