Celebrating Wastewater Professionals Day

Post Date:02/25/2026 7:00 AM

Our system includes nearly 800 miles of sewer lines, multiple pump stations, and five water reclamation facilities. Our operators visit each of these sites seven days a week, 365 days a year, in exceedance of state requirements. Wastewater crews are responsible for routine inspections, system cleaning, equipment maintenance, and continuous monitoring to help prevent overflows and protect local waterways.

While much of the work takes place out of public view, wastewater operations are a core public health service. Proper collection and treatment reduce the risk of contamination, protect wildlife habitats, and help maintain water quality standards.

On Wastewater Professionals Day, communities nationwide acknowledge the importance of this essential infrastructure and the trained professionals who keep it functioning reliably year-round. Union County Water is proud to join in this observance and to recognize the dedication and expertise of our wastewater team.
