Team Member Honored for Excellence in Customer Care

Each year, a member of the Union County Water (UCW) Customer Care team is selected by their peers to receive the Lora McManus Customer Care Specialist of the Year Award. Union County Water established this award in 2020 in memory of Lora McManus - a beloved member of the Customer Care team for more than 20 years - who passed away in 2020 due to complications from COVID-19.
The award is presented to the customer care specialist who has shown a commitment to providing excellent service to internal and external customers throughout the year. The candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships;
- Show dedication to continuously improving customer satisfaction and exceeding expectations; and
- Demonstrate excellence in resolving conflicts and problem solving.
This year's award was presented on Friday, Nov. 21 to Anthony Schwartz, who has served as a Customer Care Specialist since July 2025, after starting as a temporary employee in May 2025.
Several of Anthony's coworkers nominated him for this award. The nomination forms included statements such as:
- "Anthony is empathetic, patient and knowledgeable when assisting customers."
- "Anthony goes above and beyond for his customers."
- "Anthony provides top tier customer service."
- "Anthony consistently maintains a positive attitude with customers and coworkers."
Congratulations to Anthony on this well-deserved award!
Previous recipients of the Lora McManus Customer Care Specialist of the Year Award include Steven Ellis (2020), Yolanda Diaz (2021), Brent Fowler (2022), Colleen Baucom (2023), and Mirian Valentin (2024).
